an english teacher means not a english subject teacher. an english teacher is slang use according to Rule. The correct is A J Hoge is the teacher of English. Math teacher, Science teacher, Physics teacher is right, But English teacher means Forener Teacher(Angrej Teacher).So Mr. A. J. Hoge is an English Teache means he is not a teacher of English Subject. Thanks !
